Parking Passes Needed for UPEI – updated November 26, 2013
For those taking weekday courses at UPEI, it is strongly recommended that you purchase a
parking pass if you wish to park your vehicle on campus. Parking passes for the winter and spring semesters can be purchased for $36.00 at the Accounting Office, downstairs in the Kelley Memorial Building at UPEI.
Classes are cancelled for the day in Charlottetown and surrounding areas when UPEI cancels classes (announced on most radio stations). Classes are cancelled in Prince County and Kings County when the schools are closed. Otherwise, Seniors College classes will run as usual but use your best judgement.

Our new tagline says it all. “Enhancing Knowledge and Understanding – Purely for the Fun of It”. That’s what Seniors College of PEI is all about. The Board of Directors is very pleased with the changes being introduced this year.
First of all, we have greatly improved our registration process. We are now pleased to offer online registration from the comfort of your home computer, rather than the wait and the line ups of past years. It promises to be fast, easy, and convenient. The new online registration site will be linked to www.seniorscollege.ca, so you will go to the regular College web address to find the registration link.
Next, in response to member feedback, this year over 30% of our courses are new. They include titles such as: Photo Editing, Basic Engine Repair, Architecture, Birds and Plants of PEI, Know Your Kidneys, PEI Sport History, Spirituality-Growing Into Our Senior Years, Yoga-Stretch for Seniors, Whole Foods-Plant Based Nutrition, Bridging Friendships-The Game of Bridge, Orienteering-Map and Compass Reading, just to name a few.
Of course, many of the long-time favorites will be returning this year including: Literature, Writing From Life, Film Appreciation, Health in PEI, Astronomy, Choral Singing, What's in the News This Week, as well as many others.
The Registration is on a first come, first served basis and begins on Saturday, September 7, at 9:00 a.m. No access to a computer? Not to worry. On the same day, traditional registration sessions will be held in all 3 centres (Summerside, Charlottetown, and Montague) at the following locations: Charlottetown - Atlantic Veterinary College, UPEI; Summerside - Credit Union Place, Room 3, 2nd Floor; Montague - Cavendish Wellness Centre. More detailed information about the registration process will be provided over the next few weeks as September 7th draws nearer.
Please note that for reasons of cost and the requirements of the new registration system there will be no Guardian insert this year. Traditional registration packages will be available upon request.
For a registration fee of $152.00, College members are entitled to sign up for an unlimited number of courses over the Fall, Winter and Spring terms. Seniors College is a volunteer operated, non-profit organization and membership fees are used solely to cover operating costs. Moreover, membership fees represent over 95% of College income. The fee increase, the first since 2009, is due to administrative cost inflation, and a number of new costs including the development and implementation of the online registration system, the new HST, and legal costs incurred in College incorporation which, after 13 years of operating, puts the organizationon a firmer financial and operational foundation.
Please visit the college website often to obtain full course details and updates on registration procedures. For questions or for more information, contact the Seniors College Coordiantor who serves your area:
Montague - Tom Rath at email@example.com or 902-583-2888
Charlottetown - Darlene (Dee) Davis at firstname.lastname@example.org or 902-894-2867
Summerside - Tim Harris at email@example.com or 902-836-4743
Seniors College courses offer something to interest everyone. It's an opportunity to increase knowledge, to share ideas and life experiences with others, to renew old acquaintances and make new friends.
Please come and join us again this year.
