Julie work's independently in program, organizational and community development. Her work includes planning, program evaluation and research; project development and management, human relations and communication skills training; and writing. In her thirty-five year work history, she has covered the range of organizations from private to government to non-profit, and has been self-employed since 1986.

Examples of Julie's recent work (2007) include:

  • strategic and operational planning - Framework for Safer Communities Strategy for the Office of the Attorney General
  • project development/management/evaluation - Department of Health, Seniors United Network
  • program development and evaluation - Circles of Safety and Support for Women (at high risk following spousal assault), Centre for Conflict Resolution Studies
  • facilitating - Circle of Health workshops (on-line and in-person), intersectoral problem-solving
  • teaching - Centre for Conflict Resolution Studies, Centre for Lifelong Learning, and Atlantic Summer Institute on Safe and Healthy Communities, UPEI
  • curriculum development - Atlantic Summer Institute, health promotion

Julie has a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Ryerson University, Toronto. Julie is a founding member of the PEI Conflict Resolution Cooperative, PEI Transition House Association and Atlantic Centre of Excellence on Women's Health.

Julie enjoys time with family and friends, gourmet cooking and eating. In the summer she moves her office and home to her cottage and kayaks the Johnston and Hillsboro Rivers.
