Customized training can create a productive, harmonious culture within an organization or business to prevent and resolve conflict and build collaboration. It can address situations that are unique or especially challenging, and be time and cost effective.
The Centre for Conflict Resolution Studies will provide unique course designs, flexible course formats and reduced instructional fees.
Centre faculty have extensive experience in designing workplace training in business, public, educational, non-profit and private sectors. We will meet with you to explore your training needs, review relevant units already developed at the Centre and either adapt these units to your circumstances or develop appropriate new offerings.
Training can be designed to fit work schedules, and be held at or near the work site, reducing the need for travel costs and lost time on the job. The duration of courses can be varied from intensive 1 to 5 day courses, or extended over longer periods during the work week, week-ends or evenings.
Fees for instruction services and materials for customized courses vary depending on content, duration and related services. Our standard course fee can often be significantly reduced when the client group can provide a) 12 or more participants, b) suitable training facilities, and c) food and beverages for breaks. (We can often provide low cost facilities if needed.)
By training a significant number of persons from the same or related workplaces the benefits of instruction are multiplied. Since the concepts, values and processes are understood in common, they are likely to be put into practise resulting in real skill development. The more implementation occurs, the more the organizational culture is likely to be transformed. By contrast when only a few are trained, they must struggle to teach others in an unsupported environment.
A Course Certificate is awarded for each course offered by the Centre. These in turn count for credit toward the 210 hour Certificate in Conflict Resolution Studies. Credits are rated on the basis of the number of hours (7 per day). Persons taking individual courses may decide to register for the Certificate program at any time. Regulations are posted on our website at Regulations. Note: Credits apply to professional development and are not tranferable to degree programs at the University except where courses are also part of an academic department's program.
Since the Centre for Conflict Resolution Studies is a recognized professional development unit within the Centre for Life-Long Learning at the University of Prince Edward Island, our certificates are awarded in the name of the University. In addition, we are applying for endorsement by other professional organizations offering specialized certification.
